What is IDD Therapy® Treament?

Intervertebral Differential Dynamics (IDD) Therapy treatment is a precise, computer-controlled, advanced form of spinal decompression therapy used to open the disc space between targeted vertebrae to alleviate the pain caused by disc compression and degeneration.   Compressed discs (also known as bulging, slipped, ruptured, prolapsed, or herniated discs) are the root cause of many issues that affect our bodies – not just the neck and back, but also arms, legs, and extremities.

How IDD Therapy® treatment goes beyond other decompression therapy options
By utilizing dynamic energy applied at differentiating levels of the spine to administer gentle motion (mobilization) during treatment to relieve pressure, IDD Therapy treatment is a more effective bulging and herniated disc treatment, degenerative disc treatment, sciatica treatment – in short, a better treatment option for most causes of lower back pain.

IDD Therapy treatment is ONLY administered using the Accu-SPINA system.  Both IDD Therapy treatment and the Accu-SPINA system were developed and advanced by neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, PTs, and other healthcare professionals, for the non-surgical resolution of back and neck pain.  After decades of use, and millions of treatments, we are proud to say that IDD Therapy treatment has maintained an exemplary safety record and outstanding success rates.

Do I need a referral?

No, you do not need a referral to see a doctor. You can schedule an appointment directly.

What makes AccuSpina IDD therapy different from DRX9000 Spinal Decompression?

Unlike traditional spinal decompression methods, IDD Therapy incorporates a patented oscillation technology that delivers a unique treatment experience. This technology introduces a secondary waveform at the peak of the distractive force, causing the distractive energy to rapidly alternate within a few pounds.

Only the Accu-Spina System possesses the advanced engineering and software capabilities to achieve this level of precision. The resulting Oscillating Logarithmic Curve™ optimizes the treatment process by addressing proprioceptor firing and enhancing neuromuscular responsiveness.

This innovative approach creates a negative mercurial pressure within the disc, effectively increasing "vacuum." This increased pressure allows the disc to expand vertically while reducing its lateral spread.

Imagine a standard plunger. The faster you move it up and down, the more "suction" you create. Similarly, IDD Therapy's sinusoidal oscillation technology enhances the vacuum effect, drawing nutrients like blood, water, and glucose into the disc to promote healing.

Studies have revealed a 92% success rate for IDD Therapy, compared to 77% for the DRX9000 and a disappointing 53% success rate for spinal surgeries.

How quickly do patients notice a reduction in pain?

Some patients report improvement after the first session, but more often, patients will feel some relief and/or notice changes occurring within an average of 4-6 visits.

Everyone’s body and treated condition is unique, therefore your body may react quicker or slower to this treatment. Be patient and don’t give up. Your doctor will do periodic re-evaluations to monitor your progress throughout the course of treatment.

Is there any downtime associated with the treatment?

Accu-Spina IDD Therapy is designed to minimize disruption to your daily life while providing effective treatment. The therapy typically involves 25-30 sessions, spread over a 6-8 week period, depending on the severity of your condition. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes and follows the established protocol of Dr. Norman Shealy, a renowned neurosurgeon and Harvard Graduate. This structured approach ensures that you receive the highest quality care throughout your treatment.

What should I expect during my first visit?

During the first visit, the doctor will take your medical history, perform an exam, review MRIs or X-Ray, and discuss a treatment plan.
